Introduction

Galvanized corrugated steel silo is a prefabricated storage structure made of hot-dip galvanized steel plates that are corrugated, punched in a standardized manner, and connected by high-strength bolts. Its core technology is to enhance the hoop tensile strength of the silo through the corrugated design, while using vertical reinforcement ribs (usually 0.96 meters apart) to disperse the vertical friction force, and the column design further improves the overall load-bearing capacity.

The silo adopts modular design, and waterproof gaskets and weather-resistant waterproof putty strips are installed at the bolt joints to ensure air tightness and anti-leakage performance. The thickness of the galvanized layer on the silo wall is usually 60-275 g/m², which has significant corrosion resistance and a service life of more than 30 years. In addition, the silo is equipped with a circular inspection door, internal and external ladders and protective safety nets, which take into account both convenience and safety of operation and are suitable for high-frequency maintenance scenarios.

Galvanized corrugated steel silos are mainly used in the grain storage industry. Currently, more than 90% of grain steel silos use galvanized corrugated structures.The galvanized corrugated bolted steel silo is usually used for grain receiving, storage, unloading, and recycling, it plays a role of balancing the production process, ensuring continuous production, saving manpower, and improving mechanization degree.

Design of steel silo

As a high-load thin-walled structure building, the safety of the steel silo has a high priority. SRON engineer fully consider various factors, like dead loads, dynamic loads, grain loads, earthquakes, wind loads, snow loads, temperature effects, etc. in the early design stage of each silo.

For overseas projects, we fully consider the differences of national standards, uses international standards and professional industry software such as STAD PRO and SAAP2000, and uses finite element analysis to produce effective structural calculations.

Columns

The patent designed stiffener has a greater advantage in mechanical properties. The stiffener structure strength is about twice that of domestic manufacturers. It has large inertia torque, and strong deformation resistance, and large bearing capacity. For the stiffeners with the same cross-sectional area, SRON’s stiffener is more reliable.

Silo body plates

(1)Under the principle of ensure the silo structure strength, SRON adopts more reasonable corrugate spacing, in order to reduce the risk of grain lump on the silo wall;

(2)The body plate is processed with high-strength galvanized plate and 275g-600g double-sided zinc layer. Conventional galvanized plate is purchased from China Han Steel. High zinc layer plates are imported directly from POSCO, South Korea;

(3)Modularized production process guarantees processing accuracy, parts have good interchangeability and tightness;

(4)Optimized production process reduce the damage to of zinc layer during the processing;

(5)High-quality sealing strips are provided at the gap between each plate to seal and waterproof;

(6)The silo is equipped with ladder, rest platform, wind rings, side manhole and so on.

Silo roof

(1)The design of the roof and skeleton of the silo has fully considered the requirements of the silo roof load and wind resistance;

(2)The framework of silo roof selects the reliable structure mode according to the specific type of the silo to ensure the safety and reliability;

(3)Full galvanization treatment, SRON offers aluminum-mag-nesium-zinc material and undercut sealant structure for better anti-corrosion and sealant performance;

(4)Equipped with manholes on the roof, natural ventilation holes, holes for axial fans, guard rails on the roof and ladders;

(5)The top openings of the silo are all flanged and equipped with a cover plate, which is sealed and rainproof.

Bottom ventilation parts

(1)The ventilation plate adopts bridge holes, which effectively prevents grain and impurities from getting stuck in the ventilation holes, ensuring long-term good ventilation effect;

(2)Special support under the ventilation plate can withstand the pressure of grain and facilitate the work of the sweep auger.

Silo anchor

The connection between SRON steel silo and the foundation adopts the international popular bolt connection, the construction is simpler, the strength is good, and convenient for future possibly migrate. The gap between the silo wall and the foundation is filled with weather-resistant sealing tape and waterproof paint.
